Optical Drives - IDE

IDE drives have a disc tray which ejects out for inserting discs into. This type of drive connects to the computers motherboard using an IDE cable as shown. IDE connections are generally found in older motherboards with newer types opting for Sata intead.

IDE drives come in two sizes;

Desktop - These 5.25" drives fit directly into a front bay of a computer case.
Laptop - These drives are much smaller than the desktop variant and usually fit into the side of a laptop.
