External Drive Enclosures

Drive enclosures are small peripherals which allow for an internal component in your computer to become external such as a hard drive or CD/DVD optical drive. The component simply clips into the enclosure and then can be operated by the computer via a USB, SATA, or E-SATA cable.

External enclosures are an ideal way to utilize any old hard drives by turning them into external storage devices. External storage is a great way to backup any important files and store away safely or they can be used to transfer files on the fly between locations.

Similarly CD/DVD optical drives can be used externally, perfect for slimline netbooks with no integrated optical drive.

Some drive enclosures such as the Cyclone also allow for data to be streamed directly from a hard drive to the television so you can watch all your favourite media.
